vacation in mesa was great. beautiful weather. relaxing.
on april 1st i started to track what i eat again. sigh. again. i still don't know how much i weigh so i took a waist measurement to be the judge.
right now i am using 3 apps. one is called "way of life" which basically is supposed to help you build a routine. i track drinking water, exercising and eating fast food. you mark yes/no for each day. i have been using this since the new year. i usually exercise and drink my water. i still waste money on fast food. i like that i have worked out 17 out of 23 days this month.
the other app i have been using is seconds pro. i use it to do a run/walk program similar to couch to 5k. you can also create your own timers and i have used some of their strength training timers.
the third is tabata timer. tabata is basically 20 seconds of an exercise, then 10 seconds of rest for 8 mins. i use this for both strength and cardio session. with strength i normally alternate between 2 exercises. for more of a challenge i do one exercise. doing squats for 8 mins straight is hard!!Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-42144169038051530312014-03-16T12:17:00.001-07:002014-03-16T12:25:57.501-07:001 more work day, one more work dayi work tomorrow (monday) then i am off work until next wednesday. to say i am excited is an understatement.

it is raining and dreery right now. i am so looking forward to some days of warmth and sunshine in Mesa.

h is going to a snowboard lesson on tuesday and then we fly to mesa wednesday. he is really excited about going from the mountain to the sun. it is probably going to be sunny on the mountain on tuesday but i think you know what i mean.

i was on track with workouts this week. moved my arse 5/7 days last week. i also started couch to 5k and did my 3 runs. not sure if i will run while i am away as my dad said he had some hikes planned and that is good enough for me.

i found trx class today especially hard. not sure why. it is done though and i can enjoy the rest of my sunday.

I love gif's. do you? they make a normal thing hilarious sometimes.Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-72415682572465298262014-03-08T19:22:00.001-08:002014-03-08T19:22:31.530-08:00March MadnessMarch has come. One of my goals is to blog more. So lucky you I guess? I need to get my feelings out and communicate. Ok, not many people interact with me here but at least I feel like I am being fun and crazy!

I have a busy month ahead of me. Ok, not really busy I guess since H is done all sport stuff until April, but some fun stuff to look forward too.

First H and I are heading to Arizona to see my parents for 6 days during spring break. Last time I went to Arizona H was a mere 4 months old. We headed down South for much needed spring break sun and when we got to Sedona it looked like this.

Yeah it snowed! Serious snow? This time there is no snow in the forecast thankfully. It is supposed to be sunny and warm! We are not going to Sedona this time but living it up in an old folks trailer park at my parents in Mesa. It will be nice to see them. They love being snowbirds but it sucks they are gone 5 months of the year. I can't wait until I am old. I am moving to Hawaii though or somewhere tropical. I am already looking for real-estate. 2032, you can't come soon enough.

So I spoke about blogging more as a goal. I also am going to resume working out. Minimum 3-4x per week. I am very out of shape right now relative to how good of shape I have been in the past. However, yesterday I came to the realization I need to let go of what was and work on what is now. I may never been in that great shape again or maybe I will be even in better shape? I was throwing myself quite the pity party for one. Feeling bad I was going out for a FUN 10 mile run on a rainy Saturday or whizzing through a Jillian's Making the Cut barely breaking a sweat. By thinking this way I was just setting myself up for disaster.

Another goal is to eat salads for lunch at work at least 3x.

Last week I batched good some pasta thing for my lunch but then I hated it and tossed it all. Instead of going to the store to figure out a new plan I went all nilly willy for the week. Nilly willy is never good. Especially when you are not feeling great already.

Ok, gots to go. My boys are home from the Whitecaps game and I am going to go eat homemade lettuce wraps with them.

Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-85374085217896821452014-02-22T22:22:00.001-08:002014-02-22T22:25:12.231-08:00no workouts this weekZERO, ZIP, NADDA...

I don't remember the last time this happened. Not working out even once in a week. I have been very tired this week. Probably on the verge of getting sick but not quite sick. My throat gets sore and i get tired very easily.

So tomorrow is Sunday. New week, fresh start.

I have been tracking since January. Not calories. I have been tracking how many days a week I drink the appropriate amount of water, how many days I work out and how often I ate "fast food" that week.

I rarely go on Facebook except to play candy crush. I find Facebook highly annoying right now. I may just delete the app from my phone but it is the only way a couple of my friends seem to communicate now.

I was looking at my cell phone usage for last month. Take a guess at how many minutes I used? 100? more? less? immmm, it was 10. Yes only 10. I swear that most of my calls now are now via FaceTime under wifi. We still have a home phone, however I never answer that or use it. I lied, I ordered S a pizza tonight. I think working in a call centre I tend to avoid actually speaking on the phone as much as i can. I spoke of stress on my last blog. Well my work cell rang over 100 times last monday. on top of answering the phone that many times i am also responding to instant messages, emails and just people walking up. I am done with the world at 5pm.

that's it for today.

Tomorrow, all of Canada will be awake early for THE hockey game. I will be sleeping.

i am not going to try to even recap what has happened over 5 months.

work has been an absolute gong show. new system and we are not doing well. stress is through the roof with everyone. trying to keep stress down but that is stressful in itself some days.

i have been working out 4x a week. doing a trx class at least once and more recently throwing in a tabata class. both are great classes and are very hard.

i really should have worked out tonight but i didn't. hard day at work and changing the channel on the tv is daunting. i know deep down exercise would help but today i just feel paralyzed. so in order to now work out 4x this week i need to get moving for the next 3 days. i can do it.

in one month i get to go see my parents in Arizona for a week. Hopefully the sun will be out. A little vitamin d is always good for the soul.Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-86439654586444913752013-09-21T09:08:00.001-07:002013-09-21T09:08:29.463-07:00Color Run or Colour Run as we say in Canada ehLast Saturday H and I did the Color Run. I actually find it humorous they call it a run because there wasn't much "running" going on. It was really fun though and I would do it again as a fun family outing. Not as a planned "run" though. We did jog quite a bit between the stations.

Packet pick up times were ridiculous. They were from 12-6 right downtown. I guess the organizers of the color run don't understand that most of Vancouverites don't actually live in Vancouver and it takes us like 30-60 mins to get downtown on a good day so if you work, which i assume you do, getting to packet pick up is pretty much impossible before 6.

We enjoyed dressing up like nerds and frolicking in the cornstarch colored mist. The volunteers at the pink station were very gentle with the coloring. The volunteers at the yellow station were quite aggressive. All in good fun though.
Tomorrow we are off to Seattle for the night. S is going to the Seahawks game and H and I are going to just relax, go on the duck tour which H always wants to go on and of course eat dinner at the cheese cake factory. Hopefully I will also pick up the quilt I want at Target cause our Target doesn't have it.

Summer is done. I'm at the skatepark with H for his last hurrah before his first day back at school and had some time to write something today. I can't believe my baby is in grade 3. He is so big.

I did not accomplish much this summer.
No exciting trips either. One night in Whistler and one in Victoria.

I had lots of goals this summer...

I had a goal to ride my bike more. I rode it less.
I had a goal to hike every weekend. I went twice.
I had a goal to go to bootcamp every Thursday. I went 5 x. I guess that wasn't a complete bust?
So

September is here and I need to move on. In two months we head to Kauai. I am back to tracking om MFP and exercising more regularly. I would like to do 2 fitness classes a week. I haven't chosen which ones yet as my gym is revamping. My bootcamp class no longer exist. Will probably end up doing a TRX class and then a Metabolic class which is similar to bootcamp.
H and I will be doing the color run on the 14th. I am looking forward to that. Not the 'run" part but the experience.

That's all for now.Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-2013410755130193302013-08-18T13:35:00.001-07:002013-08-18T13:35:22.900-07:00Summer is coming to an end...Only two more weekends left. One normal weekend and then the long weekend for Labour Day.
Due to my work schedule I haven't got away much. One night in Whistler and next weekend one night in Victoria. I have Hawaii to look forward to in November and one night in Seattle in September. I am really looking forward to going back to Kauai.

On the other hand H has had quite the summer of traveling; Whistler, Lake Wenatchee, Yellowstone Park, Harrison Hot Springs, Las Vegas and Victoria. He sure gets around? He is a lucky kid. S and H were in Vegas earlier this week for 2 nights. They seemed to have a great time. Pool, eating, Chris Angel and bowling.

This weekend has been a bust. My allergies have been really bad and today I have a migraine. I am heavily medicated right now. I haven't had a headache/migraine like this in a very loooong time. I went to the gym this morning and spent 30 mins on the elliptical deciding if I should run to the bathroom to puke or not. I never actually puked but sure felt like it a few times. Aren't you glad you read this?

Starting in September I am going to track again on MFP at least 5 days per week if not everyday until we leave for our trip on Halloween. Sorry, I got nothing exciting to say. I am going to go lay down.Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-30142744672260877022013-08-02T13:11:00.002-07:002013-08-06T16:50:15.108-07:00I rode my bike to workI rode my bike to work on Tuesday. I thought I was going to ride it home. When I got to work the first thing I did was call S to tell him he had to pick me up. I am so out of shape. I know most of the ride is pretty much uphill but it was soooooooooo hard. That was Tuesday, now it is Friday and my quads still hurt. Beyond that no other exciting workouts this week. Bike at home an one weight workout. Goint to the gym in the morning tomorrow for another weights workout.
H has been away since Monday. It is amazing how much free time you have when you are childless??? I don't have to rush out of work or in the morning. I get home and eat and watch my TV shows. By 9pm I am out of things to do. I guess I could clean.... bwhahahahahaha... that was funny. I do miss him though and he better miss me. S and I have gone out for dinner and tomorrow I am going to see a friend then shop by myself!!! ALONE!
Pretty borning summer. Not very exciting. My friend and I are going to go to Victoria for one night with the kids. The hotel is cheaper than the ferry. $100 each way for the car. Ridonculous. No wonder we never go to the Island anymore.
Now, I need to remember to bring my bike home from work tonight.
***Update***
I forgot to bring my bike home from work. Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-24068828830979794572013-07-27T20:54:00.000-07:002013-07-27T20:54:56.054-07:00I am not really good at this blogging thing?I have been MIA again. Nothing has been going on really that is exciting. I usually like blogging about boring life stuff but that is not even motivating me to run this year. Working full time has cut down on my ME time which is when i used to do things like write blogs. I have many draft blogs that I do not post. I found Dery girls the other day too stuffed in a corner in my bedroom. I need to take Dery out to see Vancouver and mail her off to someone new. Is Dery the blue bunny's name even? Derry? Berry?

H is leaving Monday for a week and a half away with my parents. Not sure what I am going to do with myself now that I don't have to speed home. Guess I don't have to get up early to work out? I might do it before work anyway. I WILL RIDE MY BIKE TO WORK AT LEAST ONCE THIS WEEK. My only goal this spring/summer/fall was to ride my bike more and i am failing at doing so. Failing miserably.

I haven't cooked anything new or done any amazing workouts.

We did book our fall holiday so I have that to look forward too.
June is halfway done? Whoa. Not much has happened since my last blog. Just life. Nothing too exciting. Just been working and hanging with the family.

I made this from pinterest the other day. Having it for lunch today at work.
http://pinterest.com/pin/170785010841903995/
it was ok. i think it is better reheated in the microwave than fresh. i find it odd when foods are like that. i make a bean pie type thing that is way better as leftovers too. the above though was a little bland so next time it needs more spice. someone suggested on the original blog about mixing in some salsa. i think that may work too.

work is going well. I am changing my job again in a bit. same company/title but different duties. i will no longer have to interact with external customers for the most part which i LOVE. i am ready for this exciting change and my new duties are better suited for me.

fitness.... bleh. not doing a lot there. i am doing my bootcamp class once a week and riding my bike once a week and then the rest is small stuff like leisurely walks and bike rides. right now i have 2 week days off so i can do my class. in a couple of weeks this is no more so i am going to have to make an effort to fit in more exercise. especially weights. at least it is light her until 9-930pm for the next couple of months so i can walk/ride after work. h and i are also planning to do a color run thing in august so i MAY start running a bit so i don't die over 5k of mostly walking. my kid will surely out shine me which is great! the girl who did halfs to barely making it 5k? yikes. i am going to right about running or not running i guess next week. I am also going to make time for some hiking on the weekends. I don't know why I haven't posted. I don't have a lot to post even now.

We went on our family holiday to Los Angeles/Anaheim and San Diego in April. We had a great time. The weather was great. No one killed each other although it may have been close a couple of times. My allergies were crazy in San Diego. I took a lot of Claritin and it was not helping. I was miserable but we still had fun at Seaworld. Who doesn't love getting soaked by Shamu?

Disneyland was Disneyland. Nothing new or exciting there. We thought H would be brave and want to go on all the rides. Turned out he is a chicken.

Universal was very fun. I think it may have been my favorite. Not sure why. The Transformers ride is amazing. The best ride of the entire trip. H loved transformers and The Simpsons which were way scarier than anything Disney threw at us but he was convinced the ride at Disney were scary. It was cool and drizzly the day we were at Universal. It was sunny/warm in Anaheim when we left. My flip flopped feet were frozen. Below is a picture of us with Megatron.
We also went to a Dodgers game and that was a nice night. Stadium food in the USA is so much better than in Canada in general. I have never been disappointed by the USA offerings. We ended our trip in Santa Monica which we did last time too, I want to live there, just wish it wasn't in the USA. I wish Canada had somewhere sunny and warm for us to live. Maybe we should invade Hawaii? That would be my choice.

Next time we go we will spend less time in Anaheim. I want to stay somewhere out at the beach or in LA and we can drive to Anaheim if we are going to Disney.

**********************************************************************

I have yet to weigh myself. Very proud of this.

I logged onto/tracked in myfitnesspal 100+ days before our trip. Very proud of this.

I have not run in months. I am also proud of this. Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-80544399445287147242013-03-05T16:01:00.000-08:002013-03-05T16:01:27.582-08:00March GoalsI do not know the last time I set a monthly goal. I have been flying by the seat of my pants for months. ummmm... maybe years? probably not years but it has been awhile.

That is what i found when i googled 'flying by the seat of my pants.'

anywhooooooo

so my goals for March are:

#1 - less eating out. this goal is more about the wallet than the waistline. the bonus though hopefully will be the waistline. i spent a disgusting amount on take out food last month. this needs to stop. so i will allow myself to buy lunch once a week, dinner once a week and coffee once per week. that is it!

#2 - more strength training. this shouldn't be hard as i am only doing strength during my bootcamp class so one whopping time per week. I will increase this to 2x per week.

#3 - Chillax - spend more time relaxing. Going to Seattle for one night and will try to ski 1x during h's spring break.

That is it for my goals for now.

Last week was pretty exciting for my little man. We were at a Vancouver Giant's game and our son's hockey team got to meet Gordie Howe. Then h's picture the next day ended up in the sports section of the Vancouver Sun. he was very excited. Below is the picture that ran in the paper. h is beside the girl. Gordie Howe is the old guy aka 'Mr Hockey.'

then h wanted to try snow boarding. so in december we went and spent the day up on the mountain. we skated on an outdoor rink and h tried snowboarding. he did not love snowboarding so he asked to try skiing to see if he liked it better. our first trip up at the end of january was interesting. i taught him to ski. after a few hours of us yelling at each other he finally got it and loved it. we went again last friday and he even attempted a "scary" blue run which i led him down in error when i took a wrong turn. he did great. we had a great day. at the end of the day he even road the short chair alone. now i am looking for used ski equipment. i really missed being out in the cold and on the mountain.

however, even used ski equipment is expensive. snowboarding seems to be a cheaper option. however, i have never snowboarded. thinking i may just buy snowboarding stuff and give it a whirl. undecided. we will probably hit the slopes one more time this year. hopefully S can join so he can witness our new little ski bunny. i will put some pics at the end of this.

I have been exhausted (again) all this week. i have sucked it up and done a bit of working out. nothing too strenuous though. not even close. did i mention we now have an indoor bike for home?

we now have an indoor bike for home.

so when i can barely muster up the strength to get off the couch i will go and force myself to do 30 minutes on the bike while i watch some netflix. what am i watching on netfilx? right now i am watching House of Cards and I am enjoying it. House of Cards was made just for netflix which is interesting in itself. I recently finished all the Misfits episodes on netflix. I put off watching the last episode on there for a month because i didn't want it to end.

dear netflix, more Misfits NOW please.

I also watch Community and Justified. I used to watch Breaking Bad a lot but it seriously started to depress me so I had to stop. That show is great but seemed to get too under my skin.

I am going to be supervising at work now until the end of the year. lots of changes in my company this year so i am glad to be in a leadership position. the extra moola is nice too.
I did not die. Did I mention that on my last blog too? I am not dead.

Not a ton of exciting going on. Last week I was lazy. Did not workout ALL week except for one long walk with a neighbour and our dogs. I guess I needed it.

I was doing couch to 5k. I stopped. I completely diverged from the plan and changed the intervals. Still running a couple times a week but just intervals. The other day I did 5 minutes of running followed by 1 minute of walking for a total of 20ish minutes. I walk for 5 to warm up and 5 to cool down. I even sucked it up and ran in the rain.

I have yet to weigh myself. I am proud of that. I sometimes want to know but I am really enjoying the new freedom from daily weighing. I thought daily weighing was good for me, apparently I was wrong. I just admitted I was wrong about something? Don't tell S, he won't believe I admitted to doing wrong anyway.

Any exciting Valentine's plans? I work until 7pm. S & H are going to the Harlem Globetrotters game so I will have a nice few hours by myself tomorrow night. I was thinking about having a bath but then I would have to remove all my clothes I throw in there to store.

I'm busy now so I gotta go. Nothing exciting or blog worthy.
Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-50540003074279938082013-01-24T17:11:00.001-08:002013-01-24T17:11:54.337-08:00the unthinkable??i may just do it! i may not weigh myself in any kind of official manner for months or even a year. maybe my scale breaking was a sign? maybe it wasn't? however, i am taking it as one. I have also changed myfitnesspal to "lose" only 1/2 lb a week. I am interested in being healthy and eating a healthy amount of calories. i am not prepared to feel hungry or starved to lose weight. I'm not fat. the number on the scale will no longer define me.

so have i been running? well if running for 10 minutes of a 30 minute cardio session counts as running i guess i am. i did my couch to 5k runs last week and i have done 2 of 3 so far this week. running 90 seconds followed by 2 minutes rest this week. i also did boot camp last week and this week. i did NOT do any of the strength training i was going to do. you know what? I don't care!

nothing else really going on that i care to discuss so i am outta here.

Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-58217281992019527372013-01-11T18:47:00.002-08:002013-01-11T18:47:51.088-08:00Just DanceNothing super duper exciting this week.

Did I tell you I broke the scale? Seriously. I changed the battery, hoped on and the digital screen cracked and died. I was planning on weighing myself one last time and then not again for at least 30 days. so now i am just not weighing myself for 30 days. at the end of that i will either have to buy a new scale or use the scary uncalibrated one at the gym.

I went to the gym 3x so far this week. yeah me. tracking again on myfitnesspal. yeah me.

so my new "plan" is to do couch 2 5k 3x per week, boot camp 1x per week, strength train another 1-2 times a week. i was going to do NROLFW (New Rules of Lifting for Woman) again but i can't find the book. going to do old school weights and resist the urge to Jillian Michaels it up for at least 30 days.

Oh yeah, the title of my blog. just getting to that now i guess. so we gave h Just Dance for the Wii for Christmas. Have you ever done that? Oh my it is so hard. seriously so hard sometimes. i seriously need to find my heart rate monitor and see what kind of calories i burn. the key word in that sentance is FIND though. H's favorite is Ricky Martin. Ok, it is his favorite to watch me do and laugh at me. His favorites are One Direction and of course Gangam Style. I actually enjoy the One Direction one too. I like a Nicki Minaj one too and like to add some extra booty in that one. The best part is when h gets s to do it and s is SO focused. SOOOOOOOOOOO focused. I will sneak a video if i can one day. you have to promise not to tell if i do though. shhhhhhhhhh.

That's all I got.

Jen out. Tomorrow I will be back into the grind. I have been lazy for weeks but no more! I will ease myself into working out again slowly. Very slowly. I usually do bootcamp on Wednesday but if I do it I probably will end up crippled the rest of the week so I am going to go tomorrow and do some light cardio and light weights. I also am doing something new and CRAZY. I am not going to weigh myself for 1 entire month. January 8 to February 8.

Next week I will go to boot camp. I think I MIGHT do couch 2 5k. MIGHT.

I thought since it was a new year I would change my blogs look. It is girlie non?

Anything else exciting going on?

Nope.

2012 was pretty boring. Nothing crazy. I like that.

Highlights of the year?

-Meeting my bunnies in Vegas
-H's first time Snowboarding
-Kauai
-Vegas with family

For the first time in many years NONE of my highlights include fitness or food. In someways this is good. I am not obsessing which I have a tendency to do. However, because I am not obsessing my waist line has expanded quite a bit. Although, I would like to lose a few I am not motivated to starve myself.

Do I miss running?

Sometimes. Rarely. Most of the time not. I do intervals occasionally on the treadmill but I do not miss distance running. I do miss the amounts of calories it burned but that is not a good reason to do something. I may do couch to 5k. Still undecided. I think this spring/summer I am going to try to focus on cycling.

Do I have a New Years resolution?

Nope.

Do I plan on making one?

Nope.

I watched Les Miserables yesterday. Finally. I was a bit late for the party. Yes, I know it has only been out a week but I have been obsessed with it since 1992 people. I love it. No other musical compares. The story is exceptional and the music is exceptional. Does the movie give the play justice? Yes I think it does. It gives all of us Les Miserables fanatics who sat in the back row of a theatre finally the close up glimpse of the emotions the songs deliver. The movie was well done? Was it perfect? Nope. At times the singing wasn't as powerful as I wished. The one real let down for me was Javert (Russel Crowe). In no way was his singing bad but I just felt it was sung from the head instead of the gut. It is hard to explain. Anne Hatheway (who is NOT a favorite of mine normally) was breathtaking. I want to cry just thinking about it. I cried 3x during the movie. Glad I wore my waterproof mascara.

Yesterday we also had Turkey dinner. since we didn't have it on Christmas we did it yesterday. yeah christmas didn't happen as planned. s got sick and h and i had popcorn for dinner while we watched a movie. It made me secretly happy to have a quiet christmas. shhhhhhh!Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-89257188837427569102012-12-21T16:03:00.000-08:002012-12-26T13:52:53.051-08:00Christmas is Coming - I started this on DEC 12 !!!!Dec 12, 2012

Brace yourself.... I do not enjoy Christmas. I put up with it for friends and family but in reality I just want to run away the entire month of December. I want to go far far away to somewhere where they do not celebrate Christmas or they just don't make such a big deal. I don't enjoy parties, I don't love a turkey dinner. I know I am evil. All I want to do on Christmas is give my kid a gift from Santa and sit in my jammies the rest of the day. That isn't happening though. Most days I can suck it up but some days I just can't. Anyway, that is my rant.

Beyond that pretty uneventful week. Last week H and I went up on the mountain so he can try snowboarding. He loved it. We had a great day because they also have a winter wonderland thing on the mountain we went to. Santa, reindeer, outdoor ice rink, Christmas movies in the movie theatre.... wait a minute? I bet you are thinking didn't Jen just right a whole paragraph about hating Christmas? I hate Christmas, I like winter.

Winter = snow/cold. YEAH
Winter = rain/rain/rain NEY

It was fun. I haven't skated on an outdoor rink in years. I have pictures of both me and H however they are on my camera and I am too lazy to get the pics off the camera onto the computer onto the blog. I want a fancy new camera that can somehow do that. I hear they exist.

This is where I was going to post some pictures. Then blogger kept flipping them upside down. I gave up. Also our computers have died. Both. Blogger on the tablet is annoying.

Dec 21, 2012

Today is Simon's birthday. Happy Birthday! that is about as sappy as I get. pretty emotional eh? Sorry no pics. Now our home computer died so I can't do it there either so I am quickly doing this on a work break.

Things I am sucking at right now; eating right, exercising, drinking water, walking the dog, relaxing...

Things I am doing great at; drinking diet coke, watching TV, eating potato chips, letting work get to me...

So I am trying to be all positive about this Christmas thing but I am not feeling it this year. I am not going to apologize. I will do what I need to do and hopefully next year will be better.

Do you know grumpy cat? you have to. me and grumpy cat are now one in the same. her words are mine. even Pinterest is not making me feel happy except for my buddy grumpy cat. I wish i was not allergic to cats cause i would get a grumpy cat and we can sulk together.

i will do boot camp tomorrow. i shall also get workouts in Thursday and Friday too. i will do it. i swear.

besides that nothing huge going on. last week was my little man's 7th birthday so that is why my schedule was so messed. adjusting work for dinners/soccer/hockey games. i made that cake. well betty crocker helped. i made the icing. it didn't work out to swell but it was sugary and on top so i guess it worked?

besides that my child has been a hellion since his bday. can a child become adhd over night? maybe he is just coming down from all that sugar on the cake but seriously!!he had a poor sportsmanship meltdown at soccer on Saturday and hockey on Sunday (this has never happened before), can not sit still at all, sulked the whole time at a big Albanian dinner thing we were at. maybe he turned 17?

well i gotta work. just thought i would let you know i am alive.Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02988108844133533296noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5032218153501671907.post-52584258747077422482012-11-12T15:34:00.000-08:002012-11-12T15:42:22.280-08:00Vegas!I guess better late than never. This blog is going to be heavy on pictures. I met some bunz in Vegas. Who are bunz? Bunz are some GALS i have been friends with online for 4 years. 4 years! that is insane? am i an insane for flying 2.5 hours to meet a bunch of strangers that could murder me? guess so.

well i am happy to report there were no murders or mischief. for those that have online friends it is always so weird when you finally meet in person. it is odd because you know people so well but you have never been in their physical presence. you kinda feel like you should hug but it would be like hugging a co-worker you see and talk to every day which would just be weird. it is an odd feeling.

so we (s&i) flew into Las Vegas on Friday morning. I met J (WAVEDANCER7), A (MARLIE13) , S (WAVEDANCER7'S FRIEND) and H (HOPERY) in our hotel lobby to drive them out to get their race packets. Honestly I was a bit skeptical the race is going to happen at this point due to some weirdness on the internet the week before. the race did happen though as you will see. We drove out to the lake to a little village and they got their packets. we returned back to the hotel and met for dinner at a little Italian place at the Venetian called the Trattoria Reggiano. Tiny restaurant and the Italinan waiter/owner were really concerned about part of our party being late. I took this picture while we were waiting for D (ZIRCARDIA) and her husband/sister to come.
While we ate some yummy pasta (well the GALS were carb loading for their marathon) there was a pink gorilla staring us down. A and H love this gorilla. I am not sure of their reasons but who is to question why?

That night the running bunz had to go to bed early. So S and I met up with my parents who also happened to be in Vegas and we did a little gambling (penny slots) in our casino at the MGM Grand. We partied it up and were in bed by midnight bwahahahaha.

My alarm was going off at 430am so I could go and get the halfer bunz to take them out to the race. When i got off the elevator to go into the lobby there was some girls looking a little rough. I noticed they had no shoes on, then i noticed they were not even carrying their shoes. They must have had quite a night when they gave up on their shoes. We went out in 2 groups. H and D went out earlier because they were running the full marathon (crazy bunnies).

So we drove the 45ish minutes out to the race in the dark. Driving through the desert. We found the race and it was still dark. We saw the sunrise in Vegas which is something I will never probably see again. It is really pretty out at Lake Mead. However, if I was ever going to live somewhere warm it would be tropical.

So I knew the course would be hard. I brought a book to read but I didn't have coffee so I drove back into Boulder City to get myself a Starbucks. I also stopped briefly at the Hoover Dam which I have been to before. Driving through the desert I kept signing that song "i've been through the desert on a horse with no name..." while i drove. That killed a bit of time. I came back and sat on the edge of the desert waiting for the return of my friends. Hoping a coyote or rattle snake or some tumble weed has not taken them out. Eventually they all did return and they were all smiling. The finish line is beautiful. You got to run down hill and towards the lake. Very scenic. Here is some pics.
I had fun driving them. Once home everyone around here keeps asking me why I didn't race. Most people assume I am still running. They don't know I stopped. I will be honest. I didn't even really have a twings of "i should be racing today" too while i watched the race. I enjoyed being a spectator.

We didn't wait for H and D to come in for their marathon as it was going to be at least a couple of hours.

At that point we went back to our hotels. S and I went to the pool for a couple of hours. I needed my vitamin D. i was hoping to meet up with my bunz later that night but my back deteriorated throughout the early evening. We went out to Henderson to see my parents for dinner. When we got back to the hotel I hurt bad so I ditched the bunz (sorry gals) and ended up just playing some penny slots again. What show did you end up going to h and a? i don't think you ever said.

The trip did have one hitch. My BACK. the day before we left I twinged it. It has been a mess since even with chiro. I thought it was getting better than a few days ago again I was cleaning the kitchen table and it went out again. i don't know what is going on. so i have been doing some light cardio when i can. I was sad to miss my boot camp class.

Also this is the first trip that both S and I have left H alone. Yes he has been away from us. For even weeks at a time but usually it is him going somewhere with my parents or something and not us leaving him. He kept calling and calling and calling. S didn't believe me until I showed him my cell with like 8 missed calls on it. I think part of it was boredom. He also doesn't understand the concept of roaming charges. I will be showing him my cell phone bill for sure!

So now I have 2 bunz left to meet (SKYFYRE, BRUIN2). 10 days bunnies until i can meet you guys! it is coming. it is coming. hoping your race works out for you and actually happens. if it doesn't happen i still get to meet ya. yeah!!!! don't forget to check out this bunny above at the vegas airport!

i haven't written in over a week. not much to say. working, working out, running h around, shopping, eating, sleeping, watching tv....

last week i finally sucked it up and did the boot camp at the gym i have been walking by for 2 years and watching from the comfort of an elliptical machine lately. my friend kept egging me on to come. it is intense. there is no rest for 75 minutes. basically it is set up in stations which you go through twice. it is 90 seconds at each station. there are no rest stations. examples of stations are trx stuff, ab stuff, cardio stuff, core stuff, kettlebell stuff... i know that was really specific. it was super hard and fun. when i was done i was exhausted. i have only felt that exhausted after running a half marathon. i do not joke. like i need a nap now but omg somehow i am supposed to work today??

the best part of it was i skipped, with a rope, for 90 seconds without stopping or tripping. seriously you don't know how exciting this is. do you remember the 80's? do you remember jump rope for heart?? it was a way of fundraising for the heart and stroke foundation. well my dad was in charge of it for basically all of western canada. he travelled/coached with skipping teams all over north america and did fancy skipping demos for schools and for competitions. stuff like this (video link to youtube with fancy dancy skipping). i on the other hand have never mastered the basic jump. so skipping for 90 whole seconds made me feel like i made my daddy proud. i suddenly felt like 8 year old Jenny. look at me daddy. unfortunately i ended up stopping to change stations and my dream died. it was very very very exciting though for those 90 seconds.

i plan on doing the class again tomorrow.

anything else going on? hmmmmm.

i have ran twice in the last couple of weeks. running is probably not what i should call it. intervals i guess. both times i felt like my insides were going to rip out. i bet you loved reading that. odd. hurts a ton. "running" for 2 mins and walking for 1 minute. my dog enjoyed it. he is about the only one that did.

i haven't been eating well lately. most days i am over my calorie allowance. i am still tracking. i am proud i am tracking even though i am going over. on days i do not exercise i am always over. i am not that motivated to exercise lately beyond my 30 mins 5x a week most of the time. i am not enjoying spinning lately. the world may have stopped spinning?? however, i am not eating too much so not a huge deal. i am just not planning and planning is the most important part. having leftovers helps too so i stop eating on the run.

ok. i'm out. catcha on the flip side.
on saturday we went to the pumpkin patch. first time in my life it wasn't a messy muddy mess. seriously like in 35 years. ok i have not been to the pumpkin patch every year of those 35 but i can say for the last 5 or so it has NEVER been this dry. the weather has been amazing this fall. on monday the kids were actually playing in the sprinkler (24c). crazy. it has been foggy though the last couple of days and the RAIN is supposed to be here by the weekend. so sad. so i am being proactive and planning a sunny holiday for february. i was thinking cancun or cuba again. so was s. now he is thinking orlando which i am not so excited about. i will win. yes i want to disney/universal but i want to relax more. the thought of theme parks, driving, eating, ... makes me anxious. i think cuba/mexico and i sigh with relaxation. i seriously just sighed. i love holidays. if we do orlando i think i want to do it with more people.

i am drinking a herbal mojito tea. i was hoping it would magically transport me to somewhere tropical.
nope, i am still here.

here is a picture from the pumpkin patch. my son and 3 out of 4 of my nephews. this is what happens when there is a gang of boys around. i can not show you the pictures when they included the little pumpkins as another male part of the body. seriously, they are embarrassing.
